Motorola Edge 70 Max Launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 and a Massive 7,100mAh Battery

Motorola has expanded its Edge lineup with the new Edge 70 Max, a performance-focused phone that slots in between the brand's standard premium model and its top-tier flagship. It combines a sharp 2K display, flagship-level chipset, and one of the biggest batteries seen on a phone this size.

Key Highlights

  • 6.8-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display, 144Hz refresh rate, up to 7,000 nits peak brightness
  • Glass-and-aluminum build with IP66/68/69 rating and military-grade durability
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 (3nm) with a large vapor chamber cooling setup
  • 50MP Sony LYTIA main camera with OIS, plus an 8MP ultrawide/macro lens
  • 7,100mAh battery with 90W wired, 25W wireless, and 5W reverse charging
  • Android 16 with Motorola's new Qira AI platform

Design and Display

The Edge 70 Max sticks to Motorola's familiar Edge design a glass back, aluminum frame, and a rectangular rear camera module. At 8.29mm thick and 221g, it stays reasonably slim despite its massive battery. Durability is a highlight here, with IP66/68/69 water and dust resistance plus military-grade certification. It ships with an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock, and comes in Aqua Gray, Dark Shadow, and Ice Melt colorways.

The display is arguably the star of the show: a 6.8-inch LTPO AMOLED panel at 1440×3168 resolution, 144Hz refresh, and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. Motorola's "Water Touch" tech also improves touch accuracy when the screen or your fingers are wet. With 100% DCI-P3 coverage, 7,000-nit peak brightness, and Gorilla Glass 7i protection, it's built to look great and hold up to daily wear.

Performance and Software

Powering the device is Qualcomm's 3nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. A 5,500 mm² vapor chamber helps keep things cool under heavy loads like gaming.

On the software front, the phone runs Android 16 out of the box, backed by three years of OS upgrades and five years of security updates. Motorola also debuts Qira, its new AI platform, bringing features like Chat Mode, Creator Zone, Next Move, Pay Attention, and Catch Me Up.

Camera and Battery

The rear camera setup pairs a 50MP Sony LYTIA 710 primary sensor (f/1.8, OIS, all-pixel focus) with an 8MP, 119° ultrawide lens that doubles as a macro camera. Up front, there's a 32MP selfie camera.

The true highlight, though, is the 7,100mAh silicon-carbon battery, rated for up to 58 hours of use on a single charge. It supports 90W wired TurboPower charging, 25W wireless Qi2.2 charging, and 5W reverse wired charging.
